SKS News Letter June 20, 2016

I hope everyone had a wonderful Father’s Day!
This was a special Father’s Day for me, because
all 3 boys where home.

Christian and Mrs. Feldt, returned from Boston
from his surgery.  He has been such a trooper.
His face is swollen still and he continues to have
pain, but he is on track with his healing.

For those that don’t know, my oldest son Tyler,
returned from being away in Germany for the past
6 months.  With the exception of completing his
thesis, he will have graduated with a Masters
in International Business from USC as well as
the University of Mannheim, Germany.

Tyler will be with us for about two months and
then he will be off to his new job in Chicago.

I am very close to my boys, so while I am excited
to see them grow, there is a certain sadness seeing
them leave the “nest”.

Okay, enough family stuff……

Here’s what we have in store for this week.

Now that the heat has arrived, our summer

Students do not have to wear a full gi
uniform, pants and tee shirt are acceptable.
(Note – tee shirt must be an SKS tee shirt.)

This policy is effective June, July and August.

Students must still wear a full uniform at
belt graduation.

Summer Reading Contest

Our summer reading contest has begun
and will run to the 1st day of school.

The student who reads the most amount
of books will win a cool prize!

I believe there is one hard copy of the reading
journal left, but you can print your own copy here:

Summer Reading Journal

The winner will be announced
the week after school starts.

Our summer attendance contest has begun!

The student who collects the most number of
tickets this summer, will win a prize at the
start of the school year.

You can collect tickets several ways, as outlined
in the summer attendance contest email.

Of course, coming to class consistently is the primary
way of winning.

Dojo Etiquette/Policies

If you have been training with me long enough,
you should be familar with this expression:

“In order to use courtesy, you must practice
courtesy”.

This is an important character trait we practice
at SKS.  When an instructor asks a question, it
should be answered with a “yes sir” or “no sir”
response.

It takes self-discipline to develop this skill.  Please
remind your child to practice their courtesy in class
as well as home, school and church.

Let’s have a great week and see you in class!
