This is a continuing series on Real Estate safety…….
Open houses – many professional realtors attract new clients by hosting an open house. It’s probably one of the best ways to introduce a new house that has just entered the market.
The problem is, open houses have the potential to be dangerous, especially to female realtors, as complete strangers can just show up any time during the event.
I have many realtor friends who are excellent realtors, but the truth is most really don’t know how to protect themselves in the event a potential client suddenly threatened or attacked them.
I know…..some of you carry a gun.
And you are convinced your gun is the HOLY GRAIL of self defense!
Unless you have that gun OUT and pointed at each and every prospect, the reality is you are really no safer with a gun then without.
There are many case studies that prove this, even examples of Police officers who can’t draw their weapon in time before being attacked. If a police officer fails at protecting him or herself, what makes you think a realtor is that much safer?
It’s not that I am anti-gun – the furthest from it.
However, my job as a martial arts professional is to keep you safe and it’s important that I be honest and present you with the reality of each potential situation you may find yourself in.
This is a well done segment from 20-20 that highlights the dangers of being a realtor.
One of the best ways to protect yourself, is to train with a certified martial arts school. Over time, you will be become more empowered and know how to protect yourself from most dangerous situations.
