You see, at Samurai Karate Studio, we are more than just kicking and punching. We emphasize character development and Black Belt leadership skills in all of our students……
Goal Setting: We are a black belt school! An important character trait is learning how to set goals and persevere to complete them.
Self Control and Discipline: Our classes are very structured, with an emphasis on practicing courtesy and nice manners. We encourage our students to focus and practice intensity throughout class.
Life Skills: Our karate curriculum includes 12 important areas of personal development, including things like citizenship, nutrition, safety and creativity. These are skills that can be used throughout a student’s lifetime.

We are committed to helping ALL children deal with BULLYING in a non-violent way; and give them the martial art’s, karate and character development tools to defend themselves when they are in danger! And we like to think we put our money where our mouth is……Samurai Karate Studio is one of the most active martial art’s schools in the Columbia area to help victims of bullying.
Current statistics show that 1 out of every 4 students will be bullied by the time they graduate from high school!
There have been many high profile suicides, by young teenage boys and girls across the US that were terribly bullied and felt they had no choice but to end their life. At Samurai Karate studio, our martial art’s mission is to bring an end to bullying in Columbia today!
We are passionate about empowering men and women to gain more confidence in the knowledge that their self defense training will help keep them safe as they travel about town.
Sadly, 1 out of 4 women will be assaulted in their life time. Even more serious, 1 out of 6 women will be sexually assaulted. These are the most recent statistics.
We believe these numbers are probably understated because many women, particularly high school and college age women, do not report sexual assault due to embarrassment or fear of reprisal.
Our karate program is designed to give you the skills to know how to handle yourself in most self defense situations. More importantly, our martial art’s program gives you the confidence to be more aware and walk away from conflict.
More Than Just Kicking And Punching
At Samurai Karate studio, our karate curriculum includes a comprehensive life skills program that includes citizenship, community service, knowledge, esprit-de-corp, creativity, dedication, first aid, nutrition, safety, physical fitness and goal setting. We have one of the best character development programs in Columbia, being offered by a martial art’s school!
We have a citizenship awards program, where students can earn gold star awards for being a good student at home and school.
Samurai Karate Studio students who receive all “A”s on their report card, receive a special recognition and special martial art’s silver star that can be proudly displayed on their uniform.
Students who demonstrate leadership skills or demonstrate one of our black belt character traits during a training rotation, are recognized with a special SKS Black Belt Leadership Award.

Samurai Karate Studio is located in Richland Northeast Columbia, South Carolina and is a family oriented martial art’s school that teaches children and adults, starting at age 4 thru 80 . Our karate program is focused on developing fitness, learning how to avoid and defend yourself on the street and includes a comprehensive character development and leadership skills education.
